Color Accuracy

platinumstickers employs state-of-the-art six-color digital printing, utilizing vivid cyan, magenta, yellow, green, orange, and black inks to broaden the color spectrum. This expansive range enhances our ability to reproduce your print-ready file with utmost accuracy. However, it’s important to note that no printing press can replicate all colors precisely, and an exact color match may not always be achievable, particularly after the doming process. For instance, a color like “chalk-board black” will appear distinct after being domed with high-gloss urethane.

To illustrate the color challenge, we encourage you to view your file on different devices such as your mobile device, computer monitor, and print it on your color printer to observe variations. Each medium has slight differences, and our press may also exhibit variances from what you see. These differences are not a matter of right or wrong; they arise because different mediums present colors in unique ways.

The most effective method for us to match your file’s colors is to rely on pre-printed color swatches from the Pantone Matching System. This globally standardized color system offers us the best chance to align the color you desire with what we see during printing. Whenever possible, specify Coated Pantone colors in your graphics files. If you lack a Pantone swatch book, your local printer is likely to have one to help define the colors in your design.

Regarding your computer monitor and color representation:

The artwork on your computer screen is likely not accurate since computer screens use RGB (Red, Green, Blue) backlighting, unlike printing where the light is on the front of the inks.

Due to these reasons, we cannot be held responsible for color variations between the files you submit and the final printed and domed piece. If color accuracy is crucial, it is your responsibility to order a physical proof and request color matching.

Color Glow:

The clear dome acts as a lens over the image, bending light to both enhance and distort parts of the image. While most images appear richer after doming, large color areas can emit a glow to surrounding areas, making them appear different. If color precision is paramount, ordering a physical proof is advisable.
